Definition: A 3D CAD data set sufficiently defined to provide a visual understanding of the item, but which does not contain full design disclosure. Generally external interface characteristics and features such as weight and center of gravity will be sufficiently defined for the intended purpose. Sometimes referred to as an envelope model, shrink-wrap model or cosmetic model.
